Asian Textiles Study Day

This event takes place on 15th July from 11:00am to 4:00pm and will take place at Morley College, Westminster Bridge Rd, London. It is being organised by Oxford Univeristy Dept Continuing Education, 020 7450 1889.

ASIAN TEXTILES STUDY DAY 

with Lecturer, Jasleen Kandhari

Sumptuous and vibrant, textiles from Asia provide a visual feast. This study day explores the designs, techniques and rich textile traditions of South Asia, South East Asia and East Asia, including an Asian textiles handling session from the tutor's collections. The lectures will cover Phulkari and Kashmir shawls from India, the Japanese kimono, Chinese imperial and opera robes, Indonesian batik and Malaysian songket from South east Asia and Tibetan tiger rugs.
